Dog killer jailed three months (ST, 20030913)

"A 28-YEAR-OLD man who killed a puppy by repeatedly slamming it on the ground was jailed for three months yesterday"

"In mitigation, Chinnaiah said that he had 'disciplined' the dog because he was concerned that it would bite people.

"He could have been jailed for up to a year and fined up to $10,000."

Where did the puppy end up signing up for a WWF matchup?!

3 months jail only. In Mar 2006, a serial cat killer with a 27 history also got 3 months. Why isn't more meted out? Is there some sort of glass ceiling on sentencing/prosecuting?
