Another rock-chick mo
Are the rock-stars(pun half intended) aligned or something? Anyway, on the way out from minion-hood (aka real life job), I overhear on the radio the strange-familar riffs of U2 classic, One. I'm not a U2 aficiondo by any stretch, but I have favs from them, One being one of them. So it was a serious matter that I found the song's riffs strangey-familar. Took a moment but I realised too soon, that it probably of those 'updated' renditions. I lost my appetite quickly. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't great either. There goes another classic contorted into conformance, like grinding a square peg to fit a round hole. And conformance, as any self-respecting rock-head knows, is anathema to the 'cause', nevermind if you are causeless. Ah well, at least this One version was decently executed. I still cringe from the memories of the discophied/technofied/electricofied strains of songs like Mr. Big's To Be With You (Hey, it was a bit syrupy sweet, but you can't fault the guitar nor the vocals' craftsmanship, and it was refreshingly simple, as near guitar acapella as you can get, imo... way better than Extreme's More Than Words!), 4 Non Blondes's What's up... Sacrilege, I tell you. Huh, now I'm depressed. Excuse me while I go snuggle up with the slackers for a bit. - Go to Pawprints: TNRM - Go to SINGAPORE UGLY / Casefile: Cruel Singapore.
